Stevens Programs in China

Stevens Institute of Technology, in collaboration with several notable Chinese schools of higher education, has initiated a number of significant masters and corporate training programs in China. One-third of the courses in these programs are delivered online by Stevens' faculty. Another third are taught in conventional classrooms in China by Stevens' faculty, and the final third are delivered face-to-face in China by faculty from partner institutions. All courses are delivered in English. Degrees earned by students in China are exactly the same as those awarded by Stevens to students in the U.S. Current programs have been approved and accredited by the Chinese Ministry of Education.

Beijing Institute of Technology

Stevens' first graduate programs in China were launched three years ago with two masters degrees--one in Telecommunications Management and another in Photonics and Microelectronics. All students who entered the telecommunications program graduated successfully in 2005 and are now working at top international and Chinese high-tech companies. A second cohort graduated this January.

Central University of Finance and Economics

A masters program in Project Management, started in fall 2005, being delivered to 30 employees of the China Development Bank. The curriculum follows Stevens' masters degree in Project Management. It is one of the few programs in China offered by a US university to employees of a Chinese company. Students are expected to graduate this May and attend ceremonies on the Hoboken campus.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Two programs--one in Telecommunications Management and another in Information Technology--are waiting for approval from the Chinese Ministry of Education. Degrees awarded and delivery modes will follow the same pattern as those at Beijing Institute of Technology and Central University of Finance and Economics.

Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications

A memorandum of Understanding has been concluded. Chances are likely that masters degrees from Stevens will be awarded to students late in 2007.

International Business Machines Corporation

A pilot program to assess IBM technical employees in China is now underway.

Stevens China Council

Stevens China Council is an advisory body composed of senior executives from Fortune 500 and other companies operating in China. The Council meets twice a year in either Beijing or Shanghai and offers advice to Stevens on education and corporate training in China.
